Donate eyes and gift sight

DUMP YOUR " I "
BUT DONT DUMP YOUR "EYE"
DONATE IT.

Eye Donation - a gift of beauty, a return for Eternity.

Eye Donation makes your eyes immortal

Let Eye Donation be your family tradition

LIGHT up a life, donate your EYES

 DONATE YOUR EYES

You don't need a degree, any special skills, or
even perfect vision. All you need is a
completed eye donor card, and a desire to help.
Donating your eyes at death to The Eye-Bank
for Sight Restoration can help bring sight to
someone in need.

CORNEA TRANSPLANTS
Eye donations are used for cornea transplants.
The cornea is the clear outer covering of the
eye. Through injury or disease it can become
cloudy, causing blindness. But doctors can
transplant a donated human cornea and restore
sight.

 HELPING PEOPLE

Men, women and children of all races and ages
have received cornea transplants. More than
43,000 people have had their sight restored
with corneas furnished by The Eye-Bank. Yet
many more are still waiting.

ANYONE CAN DONATE
Almost anyone from the ages of 1 to 75 can be
an eye donor, even if you wear glasses or have
poor vision. Any donations that are unsuitable
for transplant can be used for medical research
and education. Eye donation is approved by
every major religion. Generally, eye donations
do not delay funeral arrangements or prohibit
open caskets.

TALK TO YOUR FAMILY
It is important to tell your family you want to
be an eye donor. Most hospitals will ask for
your family's consent to eye donation at the
time of death, even though a pledge card has
been signed. It is vital that your family can
make your wishes known. Families are not
charged or paid money for donations.

SIGN A DONOR CARD
The donor card helps identify you as an eye
donor at the time of death. All that is required
is that you be 18 years of age, have checked the
appropriate boxes on the donor card and that
you and two witnesses have signed it while you
were all together.

CARRY IT WITH YOU
Always carry the donor card in your wallet.
You can also pledge your eyes (and other
organs) by completing the appropriate sections
of your driver's license.

ABOUT THE EYE-BANK
The Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration was
founded in 1944. It is a non-profit charitable
organization serving Greater New York and
supported by people like you. Eye donations
are used for sight-restoring cornea transplants,
medical education and research. You can help
people in need with financial contributions as
well as eye donations.
